Hello again so the quote is from the Red Dwarf episode Quarantine... Now it might be a little old for some of you but it's one of my favourite TV series... An oldie but a classic nevertheless and a quote was bounded to show up sooner or late and another one may appear later on.
Now I hadn't actually planned to post tonight but seeing how last night was the season 8 premier for doctor who I felt as a whovian I should probably do something.
Now I'm not going to do a full review on the episode as that's not what I'm here to do but I do have a few thoughts here and there which I need to voice.
Starting with the opening sequence... In short I don't like it. Simple as that I really really hate it and I don't plan or warming up to it any time soon. To me it doesn't feel right.
Now Clara. I liked her in the last season and I like her in this one to! (I know it's only started but if she continues this way then I think she will be one of the best companions the doctor has had) I like how she was shown to be able to handle herself but then still have trust in the doctor to save her. Along side Amy she is one of my favourite companions.
The return of the Pasternoster Gang! I was happy to see the lizard from the dawn of time, her Victorian wife and a fighting potato! These 3 would make a marvellous spin off. Strax never fails to make me laugh... He just can't let old habits go.
I like the continuity of the episode. Especially the reference to 'The Girl in The Fireplace' it was nice to see that the doctor has memories (even if he has trouble placing it) to his life as the tenth doctor. And the repetition of lines such as "you've redecorated. I don't like it" this mirrors the line from the 50th anniversary episode and other previous episodes. As well as the doctor miscalculating Clara home, similar to how he did when he drop Sarah-Jane Smith off at 'home'.
Now we get to Peter Capaldi... I was very VERY dubious of welcoming him as the doctor for the reason that Matt Smith will always be the doctor who stole my heart but I must say I didn't expect to warm to him so quickly. I expected for it to take a few episodes before I began to like him but I can say that within 75 minutes he has gained my trust. Is anyone else thinking "shush" will be his catchphrase? Because I can see it. Also his accent... I could get use to listening to him talk simply because of his accent. However to see him abandon Clara like that broke my heart. I never thought I would see the doctor do that to anyone.
Now the ending confused me... 10 years of watching doctor who and not once have I been as confused by an ending as I was last night... Who is this Missy person and why is she calling the doctor her boyfriend? What happened to River?
I think that is about everything. If you have any thoughts about the episode or if you agree with anything feel free to comment :)
Now here's the quote you know what to do... "Oh, the pointing again! They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do? Assemble a cabinet at them?"
